Increased retinal neovascular response of PDGF-B+/− mice in the ischemic mouse retina. On day 7, both groups of mice, together with the nursing mothers, were exposed to 75 ± 3% % oxygen for 5 days and then returned to room air, which causes retinal ischemia due to VEGF deprivation and vascular obstruction. The neovascular response is assessed at day 17 in consecutive sections, counting new vascular nuclei at the internal site of the inner limiting membrane. *P < 0.05 vs. wild-type mice.
