Metallothionein inhibition of diabetes-induced 3-NT formation in the heart. Immunohistochemical staining for 3-NT (A) was performed in the hearts of wild-type and MT-TG diabetic mice 2 weeks after STZ treatment. Western blotting for 3-NT followed by quantitative analysis was also performed in the heart of wild-type and MT-TG diabetic mice 2 weeks (B) and 4 weeks (C) after STZ treatment. Treatment groups that do not share the same letter were significantly different (P < 0.05).
