  • Haplotypes are defined by alleles at each SNP in the following order: ACDC-12823, ACDC-11365, ACDC-SNP 45, ACDC-SNP 276, and ACDC-3286. Odds ratios for diabetes or haplotypic differences (β) for continuous variables are calculated under an additive model and expressed per copy of the relevant haplotype. All parameters are calculated using generalized estimating equation models that adjust for age, sex, ethnicity, and birth year, which accounts for the correlation among siblings. P values are calculated using a Bonferroni correction to account for the fact that six different haplotypes have been examined.
