NL, normal rats; DM, diabetic rats; DM + ACEI, diabetic rats treated with enalapril; W, widespread staining within each cell; P, staining limited to the periphery of each cell. For each zone, P < 0.01 by ANOVA for the comparison of the percentage of stained cells among the three treatment groups.
