  • Data are means ± SE. The ELISA assay used to measure hA/hIAPP has a reported ≤1% cross-reactivity with human insulin, glucagon, glucagon-like peptide-1, pancreatic polypeptide, calcitonin, calcitonin gene–related peptide, and adrenomedullin and does not detectably cross-react with mA/mIAPP (39). The in-house radioimmunoassay used to measure mA/mIAPP had 7% cross-reactivity with hA/hIAPP and thus was used only in nontransgenic littermates.
