“Diabetes and COVID-19” Special Article Collection

“Diabetes and COVID-19” is an online collection of articles on the Diabetes Care website featuring the latest studies, clinical observations, and commentaries on COVID-19 with specific relation to patients with diabetes. Topics include management of diabetes and its complications during the pandemic, blood glucose control and remote glucose monitoring, and outcomes in patients with hyperglycemia, cardiovascular risk, and obesity. This web page is updated regularly as relevant Diabetes Care articles are published online ahead of print. To access the collection, visit https://care.diabetesjournals.org/collection/diabetes-and-COVID19.

81st Scientific Sessions Submissions

The American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions Planning Committee is soliciting noteworthy session proposals for the 81st Scientific Sessions, which will be held 25–29 June 2021. The committee encourages submissions that are innovative, challenge current treatment paradigms, and represent the latest advances in basic, clinical, and translational science. The submission deadline is 11 January 2021. Please visit professional.diabetes.org/scientific-sessions for further information.

International Consensus Statement Translations

International consensus statement “Clinical Targets for Continuous Glucose Monitoring Data Interpretation: Recommendations From the International Consensus on Time in Range" is now available in six languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Japanese. This consensus statement provides evidence-based guidelines for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), as determined by an international panel of diabetes experts striving for consistent parameters for CGM blood glucose goals in both research and clinical settings. Access the study in all languages at care.diabetesjournals.org/content/time-in-range-translations.

Clinical Diabetes Digital Publication

In a series of short videos now available on the Clinical Diabetes website, an expert panel moderated by John Anderson, MD, discusses approaches to optimizing basal insulin initiation and treatment in people with type 2 diabetes, including those at high risk such as individuals with renal impairment and older adults, with a focus on reaching A1C goals while mitigating the risk for hypoglycemia. An executive summary and videos of the full panel can be found at clinical.diabetesjournals.org/content/basal-insulin-videos.

Special Podcast Series: Diabetes and Influenza

This special three-episode series (made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from Sanofi Pasteur) explores the complicated relationship between diabetes and influenza. In each episode, Drs. Neil Skolnik and John Russell present and discuss the latest clinically relevant articles and information related to the impact of diabetes on influenza-related mortality rates, influenza-related complications in persons with diabetes, and the important role clinicians can play in encouraging patients with diabetes to get their annual influenza vaccination. To listen to the ongoing series, visit diabetesjournals.org/content/influenza-podcasts.

Clinical Diabetes: Call for Cover Images

The editors of Clinical Diabetes invite you to submit images for use on the cover of Clinical Diabetes. Cover image submission and selection is completely independent of article submission and the peer-review process. Images sent for consideration on the cover are not required to be related to an article submitted to or published in the journal. For more information, visit clinical.diabetesjournals.org/content/images-wanted-cover-clinical-diabetes.
